My passions
What you'll find on my bookshelf:
Old favorites: Bambi; Treasure Island. New discoveries: Patrick O'Brian's sea novels; Gabriel Garcia-Marquez's fiction; Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931); "The Library of America" (70+ volumes of American Literature classics, Franklin to Saul Bellows).
My pet peeves are:
When I shop (bookstore, grocery), some woman ALWAYS steps in front of me (as if I wasn't there).
In my spare time I like to:
- Walking-Club (International Volksmarch).
- Elderhostel study-tours...maybe two per year.
- 'Hang out' at my local public library.
- Follow local sports.
- Do two or more community volunteer activities weekly.
My animal companion(s):
No pets allowed in most apartments. But when growing up on an Ozarks farm, this then kid always had a dog and a cat.
They had to earn their keep tho. My cat helped hold down field mice around our farmhouse and barn; and my dog loved to chase rabbits back around to me in our regular winter chore to help provide "meat for the supper-table."
My favorite discussion board is:
Books & Lidterature (within www.seniornet.org)
My dreams and aspirations
The one person I'd like to spend an hour with:
Jesus, of course. After Him, I'd maybe profit most from a discussion with Benjamin Franklin (a true "Renaissance Man" in his time).
If I had one wish it would be:
With God's forgiveness and mercy, to attain the Hereafter.
A second wish? For me, to finally find a compatible "Life's Companion"(and to "never grow old," as a wonderful 1950s "Be My Life's Companion" song proclaimed).
The dreams I've realized in my life are:
Success in sports (semi-pro baseball) and in career (computer) endeavors.
My future outlook:
Relax; as long as it takes me. Do community volunteer work. Hopefully, find Shangrila with a compatible soulmate.
Words I live by:
Love God with all my heart. Honor my folks. Care for ALL their aging needs. Be my own person along the way.
Personal Challenges I face:
To share life with renewing former friends...back in my first 21-years hometown (where I belong).
